What is the Correct Way to Do the Cobra Pose (Bujangasana)?

1.       Lie on your stomach with the legs straight and the feet extended.

2.       Place the palms flat on the floor underneath the shoulders.

3.       Rest the forehead on the ground.

4.       Relax the whole body.

5.       Slowly raise the head and the shoulders off the ground, bending the head as far back as it will go.

6.       Try to raise the shoulders without using the arms, only utilising the back muscles.

7.       Now bring the arms into action and slowly bend the whole back as much as possible without strain until the arms are straight.

8.       Try to keep the naval as near to the ground as possible.

1.       Inhale while raising the body from the ground.

2.       Breathe normally in the final pose, or if the final pose is held for only a short time the breath can be retained inside.
